Radical prostatectomy is considered one of the most complex and high-difficulty urological surgeries, especially given the high malignant nature of the patient's prostate cancer. Therefore, the Hainan Hospital invited Academician Zhang Xu to perform the surgery remotely using advanced technology.

On the 26th, at the remote site in Hainan, Professors Shi Taoping and Liu Qiming's team completed the initial surgical preparations. After the preliminary work, Academician Zhang Xu took over the remote control and swiftly and precisely completed the surgical operation using the robot's agile and accurate surgical instruments. Throughout the procedure, team members cooperated seamlessly, and the network connection remained stable, leading to the successful completion of the surgery.

After the surgery, Academician Zhang Xu stated that this surgery further confirmed the reliability of remote surgeries. The network signal remained fast and stable throughout the surgery, with no delays in surgical operations, and seamless communication and cooperation between the two locations. Remote robot-assisted surgery has enhanced the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of grassroots medical institutions, benefiting public health and national well-being, with significant social value and implications.

Mr. Yu Liu, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of the MicroPort® MedBot®, commented that remote surgical technology is continually maturing, significantly improving the efficiency and quality of medical and health services nationwide. Currently, hundreds of successful remote surgeries have been performed in China, indicating that with the support of domestic surgical robot technology, Chinese doctors are leading the global remote surgical technology revolution.
