Unveiling Ceremony for MicroPort® Orthopedic Surgical Robot Training Center and Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot Training Class Successfully Held in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University

Nanchang, China - The unveiling ceremony for MicroPort® Orthopedic Surgical Robot Training Center and Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot Training Class was successfully held in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University on November 18, 2021. Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot (hereinafter referred to as “Honghu”) is completely independently developed by MicroPort OrthoBot (Suzhou) Co,. Ltd., a subsidiary of Shanghai Microport Medbot (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Microport® Medbot®”). Huang Xia, member of the Party Committee and Director of Personnel Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University; Dai Min, President of Orthopedic Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University (hereinafter referred to as "Orthopedic Hospital"); Huang Shanhu, Party Branch Secretary of Orthopedic Hospital; Li Xiaofeng, Vice President of Orthopedic Hospital and Director of Joint Center; Li Min, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Office of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, and Mr. Liu Yu, Chief Commercial Officer of Microport® Medbot®, attended the ceremony.

 

MicroPort® Orthopedic Surgical Robot Training Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University is the first hospital-enterprise established training center of Honghu. It has filled up the gap of digital orthopedic training center in the central and southern regions of China. It will improve the regional diagnosis and treatment level. With the joint efforts of hospitals and Microport® Medbot®, the Chinese-developed orthopedic robots will surely iterate rapidly and innovate continuously until leading similar products around the world, so that China's high-end intelligent products will benefit the vaster number of patients.

 

Li Xiaofeng, Vice President of the Orthopedic Hospital and Director of the Joint Center, presided over the unveiling ceremony. He said: "Although the development of orthopedics and joint surgery are slightly behind our neighboring provinces, Jiangxi has a far-reaching history in orthopedics and joint surgery. With the arrival of intelligence era for modern information, the Joint Surgery Department in Orthopedic Hospital will stand on the same starting line with everyone and march on hand in hand.”

 

Dai Min, President of the Orthopedic Hospital, said: "The Orthopedic Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University has developed very rapidly under the leadership of the Party. Orthopedic robot is a new industry, a new starting point, and an excellent opportunity for the Orthopedics of Jiangxi Province to overtake in corners. I believe we have the ability to enhance the training base, temper our skills and build up a skilled surgical team."

 

Huang Shanhu, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Orthopedic Hospital, said: "As we all know, Jiangxi is a region with profound historical origins and the cradle of red revolutionary culture. There is a long history for the development of artificial joint surgery. Learning the orthopedic robot technology will not only help to develop the orthopedics of our province, but also further inherit and carry forward the spirit and skills of Jiangxi' s orthopedics."

 

Huang Xia, member of the Party Committee and Director of the Personnel Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, said with emotion: "The intelligence and information era has arrived, and surgery has gone through different stages of development, from the traditional open surgery era to the minimal-invasive surgery era, and then to today's robot-assisted surgery era. With a good command of the robot surgery technology, the orthopedic surgeons of our province will have more opportunities to join first-class ranks in the country."
