Shanghai, China --- Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot (hereinafter referred to as "Honghu") (also known as "joint replacement surgery robot") completely independently developed by Suzhou MicroPort® OrthoBot Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "MicroPort® OrthoBot"), a robotics-specialized subsidiary of MicroPort® (Shanghai) Medbot Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Microport® Medbot") passed the Special Procedure of National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for Review of Innovative Medical Devices and entered the "Green Path”of approval procedure on May 21, 2020. This is the 19th product of under MicroPort® or related companies, and the 3rd product of Microport® Medbot approved to enter the special procedure for review of innovative medical devices.

Honghu® Orthopedic Surgical Robot is a surgical robot product for total knee replacement. Compared with traditional joint replacement surgery, the robot-assisted joint replacement surgery can help orthopedic surgeons solve such traditional problems in surgery as Hard to See, Inaccurate to Resect and Instable to Hold and achieve higher operational accuracy. Honghu is composed of an operation platform, a control panel and surgical accessories, which provides a novel and complete solution in the dimensions of preoperative diagnosis, intraoperative safety, convenience and surgical interaction. The preoperative intelligent analysis of the patient's image data can help quickly reconstruct the patient's joint anatomical model and develop a personalized prosthetic implantation plan. The independently researched and developed operation mode of high dexterity lightweight manipulator and man-machine cooperation can quickly complete the osteotomy process, improve the operation efficiency, reduce the space occupation of operating room, guide the doctors to accurately realize the expectation of preoperative plan.

MicroPort® started to deploy in the field of medical robots in 2014 and launched the independent research and development of a series of surgical robots. Its endoscopic surgical robots passed the application for special review of NMPA on innovative medical devices in 2019 and have entered the clinical trial stage. The generic technology of MicroPort® has achieved the integration of resources, sharing of real-time design and rapid collaborative iteration of multi-product maps in the common technology of medical robots, and improved the R&D efficiency of medical robots. MicroPort® OrthoBot, as a subsidiary of Microport® Medbot, has been focusing on the basic research and development in the field of orthopedic surgery robots and the industrialization of high-end medical devices, connecting with the top domestic medical resources, combining with the accumulated advantages of its technology market in the field of orthopedics, adopting a lean research and development model for continuous iteration and filling the gap in the field of joint replacement robots of China.

In 2017, Microport® launched the R&D of joint replacement robot system jointly conducted by the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, the Third Military Medical University of the PLA, Fudan University, Shanghai Medical Device Testing Institute and other related units, and devoted itself to developing and launching the first surgical robot for joint replacement in China. This project has also been included as the special project of "R&D of Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Equipment" in the 2017 National Key R&D Plan. The product objective of "Safety, High Efficiency, Precision and Micro-Trauma" proposed in the project by MicroPort® has become the consensus in the field of orthopedic surgery robots.

At present, there is no domestic orthopedic joint replacement robot product with similar application in China. Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot , an orthopedic surgery navigation and positioning system, has been approved to enter the special procedure for review of innovative medical devices, which will speed up its marketization process in China, further accelerate the clinical popularization of robot-assisted joint replacement surgery technology, promote the development of relevant domestic industrial chains and ultimately benefit more patients.
