On April 23, 2023, the knee replacement surgery planning software developed by MicroPort NaviBot (Suzhou) Co., Ltd (MicroPort® NaviBot®), a subsidiary of Shanghai MicroPort MedBot (Group) Co., Ltd. (MicroPort® MedBot®), was approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA)for commercialization, making it the second product of MicroPort® NaviBot® to receive NMPA approval following Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot. It will bring more medical options to patients requiring knee replacement surgery and provide strong technical support for subsequent clinical translation to benefit patients.
The knee replacement surgery planning software is mainly intended for developing the total knee replacement surgery plan for adults, providing visual, quantitative surgical planning. Compared to the traditionalX-ray pictures View , it provides visualization of force line angles, osteotomy aid solutions, and pre-positioning of the prosthesis to facilitate the surgeon's preoperative selection of the prosthesis type and help develop a more accurate, reliable, personalized surgical protocol. This protocol can be imported into the Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot system for surgery, so that clinicians can do preoperative planning whenever and wherever they want.
The product has the following features: firstly, the computer planning of CT data makes the surgery more accurate; secondly, the reconstructed 3D model provides a more intuitive display; thirdly, based on the physiological characteristics of the patient, the planning software can accurately mark key points and complete preoperative planning. In addition, it simulates and plans the amount of osteotomy, angle and other information based on the positioning of the prosthesis model and the patient's bone model, thus helping the surgeon set personalized surgical protocol for patients.
The core product of MicroPort® NaviBot®, Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot, has been approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), EU CE, and Brazilian Health Supervision Authority (ANVISA), making it the only orthopedic surgery robot in China that holds certifications from four places. After receiving the NMPA approval, the knee replacement surgery planning software will work with Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot to assist surgeons in making more targeted surgical protocols for patients, and build a strong support for the technology platform to improve patient satisfaction by intelligent technology empowerment.
Mr. Yu Liu, Executive Group Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of MicroPort® MedBot® said that the successful approval for the knee replacement surgery planning software developed by MicroPort® Honghu Orthopedic Surgical Robot is a key milestone for Honghu Robot towards platformization. The product allows clinicians to plan procedures anywhere, anytime, without the limitations of equipment. It enables full communication with patients and families and improves the quality of hospital services while freeing up medical equipment resources. It is the result of close collaboration between MicroPort® NaviBot® and clinical experts, and full considering to clinical requirements. We will keep the original intention to communicate with doctors and patients, listen to user feedback, optimize our products, and benefit patients all over the world, to achieve the original intention of "Making Surgery Easier, Safer and Less Invasive".
