Shenzhen, China, 2 November 2021 — Shanghai MicroPort MedBot (Group) Co., Ltd. (MicroPort^® MedBot) recently held a signing ceremony to mark the strategic cooperation agreement with South China Hospital affiliated to Shenzhen University and a project initiation meeting for a clinical research program of Toumai^® Laparoscopic Surgical Robot.

At the event, MicroPort^® MedBot and South China Hospital signed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation, under which the two parties will pool their resources to jointly promote the establishment of a joint R&D laboratory. This collaboration will advance the technological innovation on robotic medicine and support the translation of research findings into clinical practices. Innovative medical robots will be quickly verified, iterated, and improved in practical applications thanks to collaboration between hospitals, industries, universities, and research institutes, further contributing to the rapid development of medical robotics with independent intellectual property rights.

At the ceremony, Mr. Song Wu, President of South China Hospital affiliated to Shenzhen University, and Mr. Yu Liu, Chief Commercial Officer of MicroPort^® MedBot delivered speeches outlining the upcoming areas of cooperation. They expressed their hopes for the strategic collaboration and their wishes for the complete success of the partnership.

Mr. Yu Liu stated, "This is the first time that MicroPort^® MedBot has partnered with a public hospital in Shenzhen. MicroPort^® MedBot will work with South China Hospital to promote technological research and application development of minimally invasive robotic surgery, and conduct exploratory clinical treatment research within regulatory boundaries using multidisciplinary robotics, including endoscopic surgical instrument control systems and orthopedic surgery navigation and positioning systems. ”
