Nanchang, China --- Professor Bentong Yu, director of thoracic surgery department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, and his team completed a robot-assisted thoracoscopic partial resection of inferior lobe of left lung with Toumai® Laparoscopic Surgical Robot (hereinafter referred to as “Toumai®”) independently researched and developed by Shanghai Microport Medbot (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Microport® Medbot®”) on November 19, 2021. It is the first case of thoracic surgery completed in South District with Chinese-developed laparoscopic surgery robot, further verifying the safety and effectiveness of Toumai® in thoracic cavity, and marking that Toumai® has entered the extensive and in-depth clinical promotion stage in thoracic surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, urology and gynecology.
Partial nephrectomy, though comparatively complicated in thoracic surgery, can preserve as much normal lung tissue for patients as possible on the premise of tumor resection. Professor Yu Bentong used Toumai® to achieve the hilus pulmonis hilar blood vessel dissociation and the resection of tissue of inferior lobe of left lung, and the operation process was smooth and successful, as fully demonstrated Yu's superb technical level of minimal invasive thoracic surgery. The surgical instruments of Toumai® is highly flexible, and the 3D laparoscopic system provides a stereoscopic and real surgical vision, and its intuitive master-slave teleoperation system is sensitive and easy to use, thus simplifying the surgery procedure and shortening the time of surgery.
